Israel And Hezbollah On Verge Of War. Repatriation Begins.

Repatriation efforts initiated by Kuwait in view of a full-fledged war between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah. Kuwait has sent its first flight to Lebanon to repatriate its citizens.

Kuwait Airways said that it would scale up number of flights to bring back its citizens from Beirut.

Canada too is preparing to bring back its 45,000 nationals from Lebanon.

Canada has sent armed forces to evacuate its people after a discussion between Israel Katz (Israel’s Foreign Minister) and his Canadian counterpart, Mélanie Joly.

Many diplomats have already left the capital of Lebanon, Beirut in view of deteriorating security situation.

On the other hand, Hezbollah attacked Northern Israel with drones and rockets in which one solider was injured. Hezbollah vowed to carry our more such attacks until there is a cease-fire in Gaza.

In response, Israel launched aerial attacks and killed the Commander of Islamic Group, Ayman Hashem Ghatame.

Situation May Get Out Of Control : UN

Just a day before UN Secretary General António Guterres warned about Gaza-like situation in Lebanon if any of the parties folly. The war thereafter will not be limited to Israel and Lebanon borders only. The world would not be able to afford such conflict.

The United States Secretary of State,  Antony Blinken also warned about Israel’s determination of full-scale war with Hezbollah.

Israel’s Defense Minister Leaves For The US

Amidst the next stage of Gaza war and enmity with Lebanon, the Defense Minister of Israel, Yoav Gallant went to Washington on Sunday. Before leaving to the US, he said that Israel was ready for any operation in Gaza, Lebanon and other areas.

The Hezbollah-Lebanon Connection

Inspired by the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the Shia Clerics of Lebanon founded Hezbollah (The Party of Allah) in 1982. The objective was to avenge the 1978 war and remove Jews’ occupation of the land.

Iran’s Support

Iran has actively supported Hezbollah financially, in arms supply & training right from its inception in 1982.

Control Over Lebanon

Armed Hezbollah have a strong political influence in Lebanon with support of Shia Clerics. They have 50% seat share in Lebanese Parliament and also the government also recognizes this organization.

Mightier Than The Government

It is speculated that Hezbollah is more powerful than Lebanese Army itself. The demography of Lebanon consists of 25% Shia Muslims, 25% Sunni Muslims and 47% Christians.
