The Sound of Silence.

silence

Today let’s talk about how you would feel & what sounds you would hear if you were sent to a place where there was nothing to listen to?

A great example of such a space is intergalactic space, that is, the empty space between two galaxies, which is so empty that you can hardly find single atoms in one cubic meter of space. So what will you hear after reaching space?

Since sound is only the vibration of molecules and as mentioned, there are no molecules in far space, then the direct answer to my question should be that we will not hear anything in space. But, it is not so.

Its is because when there is nothing around to listen to, you start listening to “yourself”, which is undoubtedly a very scary experience.

A chamber for audio testing has been built in Orfield Laboratories in Minnesota, USA which has the title of world’s “Quietest Place On Earth”. The specialty of this room, which has been prepared with special technology by combining several layers of concrete, steel and fiber, is that this room cancels out sound up to -20 decibel intensity, i.e. 400 times less than the human hearing capacity. That is, if you were locked in this room, you would not hear much except your own “voices coming from within.”

Yes, within a few minutes of being locked in this room, you start hearing yourself. The beating of your heart, the flow of blood flowing in your arteries, the sound of your bones crackling when you move, the sounds going on in your stomach. Gritting your teeth with your mouth closed will seem as if someone is screaming in your ear. If you open your mouth and say something, you may tremble with fear as soon as the words come out of your mouth. A strange, frightening rustling sound starts echoing in the ears.

Humans are not used to such an environment, so it is not surprising that people start experiencing serious psychological effects as soon as they enter this room. The mind becomes a victim of hallucination. The balance system of the brain gets shaken. People start staggering and cannot even stand. Spending more than 45 minutes in this room can be fatal. The record for maximum time spent in such a room is only 4 hours, which according to the record holder, was like a nightmare.

This anechoic chamber of Orfield Laboratory is not for the common people, but there is a room built on the same soundproofing technology, which is open to the common people. If you ever go to America, come with a passion. All the experiences mentioned above will occur.

It is a bit strange to think that only when we are away from the noise of the world, we experience the noise going on within us, but who knew that the noise within ourselves can be more scary than the noise of the world.

Maybe, silence is good for peace.
But too much silence can drive you crazy…!!!
