Getting No Response To LinkedIn Job Applications? Here’s Why.

JobSearch

I see a lot of job seekers saying that they spend 5+ hours daily on Linkedin applying for jobs but they don’t get any response from recruiters. I understand the pain – applying to 100s of Jobs daily and filling up long forms online despite uploading the CV &. reaching out to Hiring Managers and not getting any response.

Although a lot depends upon market’s demand and supple rule and candidates’ profile, I am trying to help candidates realize, “You are just digging the barren land !!”.

Hit like or Comment “Interested”

You must have seen various LinkedIn posts from individuals/placement companies offering lucrative jobs and asking users to hit “Like” or comment “Interested” so that they can view your profile.

They want just more followers and likes. They want to be so called “Influencer”. Yesterday I saw a profile who posted “T*S is hiring 2024 fresher batch” but surprisingly there is not such posting on T*S site. In her work experience she mentioned that she was a self-employed and her followers is 33k. Obviously she is jobless and just trying to build engagement.

Solution: Just ignore them and block them if necessary.

Follow page after “Easy Apply”

There is a huge problem with LinkedIn jobs that is never talked about, and its that the “Follow” option is by default enabled for every “Easy Apply” job.

I know for a fact that my Ex-Company kept posting “Easy Apply” jobs despite there was no opening. As long as this stays, companies will keep on posting jobs for boosting their followers.

Solution: Check on company’s website if the same position is vacant there, Connect with job poster (HR) and message them. Also, search other job portals like naukri.com or indeed.com if the same job is listed. If you don’t find it and HR don’t reply.. consider it fake.

Spam Job Postings

Many newbie HR companies put fake job postings to increase their database. I know a few, W***HR is one of them. They post general openings with good salary and “Easy Apply” option.

They would then call you and ask for a “Paid Membership”. Always remember that genuine placement agencies charge the client, not the candidate. Never pay anyone who promises to get you a job. It’s a scam.

Off-Shore Openings – A Mirage

Unless you have a tech/engineering/medical background or you are a skilled blue-collared worker, the chances are bleak that you can get a job overseas. Many countries like USA, Singapore and KSA have restricted their private sector to hire expats for general management jobs. Don’t waste time applying for such jobs, you will never hear from them.

LinkedIn Premium – Is It Worth?

I used their 1 month free trial.  For genuine jobs, saw the number of total applicants.  For MNCs, it reached 300+ in a couple of hours and if you check after 1-2 days, it would have gone 1000-1500+. Google’s SDE (Software Development Engineer), 1 job post had 2300+ applicants if I remember correctly.

Linkedin Premium is a useful feature for professional networking, especially if you are in sales and have to connect with potential clients. I do not see it as a good “Value for Money” for jobseekers.

Market-Goodwill Job Posting

Its where companies do make Linkedin job posts just to show (fake) everyone they are doing as good as a company and growing. These don’t have any intention of hiring.

“Head of Analytics – A**tel”, this had been over LinkedIn from last 1.5 years and they say.. we are hiring for this role. 🤣🤣🤣

Advise To The Jobseekers

I have been in similar position (laid off twice). Depression and anxiety often fills up the mind and one resorts to smoking or drinking. However, there is a way to overcome the situation:

  1. Emotions are our enemies. Kill emotions.
  2. Never give up. The best thing about time is that it changes.
  3. Increase social networking. There are many Job-based WhatsApp and Telegram groups.
  4. Check if there is any issue with your CV. The presentation or grammar.
  5. Don’t spent whole day applying for jobs and worrying. Just 2 or max 3 hours are enough. Spend rest of the day in learning something or do other work.
  6. Give up smoking and drinking. Start working out. Sweating releases negative enzymes from the body, relaxes the mind. You will be in a position to think better.
  7. “Gap in CV is a negative indicator, 10% hike is the market standard”  – These are theories of negative minded people. Private sector market is always open to all skilled and smart talent.
  8. Don’t bother about what people say about you. They will fix themselves once you get successful.
  9. Its ok to check horoscope/Kunadli etc. However, don’t over-do it (Buying Gemstone or paying money to astrologer or godmen).
  10. Stay strong. This too shall pass.
