Exports surge: ‘Make in India’ wave in US,EU

New Delhi. Indian products are establishing themselves on International Market. There is a surge in exports to US and EU markets in May 2024, thanks to ‘Make in India’ initiative.

With US, developed economies like Britain, Italy, France, Netherlands and UAE have shown increasing interests in Indian products. Domestic electrical machinery, smartphone and other appliances are getting popular in these countries.

Britain overtakes China and becomes India’s 4th largest importer. EU countries preferring India on imports of machinery and parts.

As per the Ministry of Commerce’s statistics,  India’s exports to Britain tripled in May-24 and reached $1.37 billion. Export to China stayed at $1.33 billion. USA’s share in India’s export has risen from 19% to 23% in last 10 years and in Europe it went from 18% to 23%.

Machinery, food products, medicines, garments, jewelry, iron and steel were exported more.

However, there is a decline in exports to Asian countries in last 10 years.
